Resolution Time

Since the beginning of the New Year the media has been inundated with health tips to help people carry out their resolutions.  May of these revolve around weight loss and personal improvement.  I have been inspired by a few of these and I would like to share…

The Detox Cleanse:

I know more than a few people who are looking for a cleanse program.  I did some research into what’s out there and I think that I will most likely try the DR. Oz Detox Cleanse.

 I like this program because:

1.        It’s based on real food that you blend into shakes.  I know that isn’t as convenient as purchasing something premade, but you are getting the benefits   of whole, fresh food that is loaded with nutrients.

2.       It is SUPER user friendly!  There is a flow chart as well as a shopping list that leads you through the three day process seamlessly.

3.       It doesn’t completely eliminate caffeine.  As a person who relies on a daily cup of coffee to get started I appreciate the green tea being part of the cleanse regimen.  I’m sure there will still “bad” feelings as toxins are eliminated from the body, but I wouldn’t anticipate the horrible headaches that accompany caffeine withdrawal.

I also like…Bobby Flay Fit

The Food Network star has put together a video blog that tackles a well balanced approach to fitness and weight management.  I think this is really a great series because he makes it simple to make changes toward a healthful lifestyle by taking small steps.  I like that he’s not advocating anything too drastic, like completely eliminating a food group.  Instead he pushes a balanced approach, for example urging viewers to enjoy pasta, but concentrate on portion control.  He includes recipes (of course!)  As well as work out tips.  The seven part series is broken down into relatively short vignettes – about five minutes each.  I think it’s worth checking out.
